Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Some of my ELL students will be coming back to school to see their friends, yet others will have just arrived from their foreign countries and will be in school in the US for the very first time. This transition can be difficult for students who are newcomers. Thus, it is important to have a warm and welcoming class environment ready for them when they come, and to be able to provide them with basic supplies they might need. Especially if it's their first time in school and they didn't have the time or resources to buy them or if they didn't understand what was being asked of them because they don't speak the language well or at all.

Posters in the walls, pencils, pens, markers, paper, among others, will provided them with the materials they need to get off to a great start.

Having the classroom well decorated and stocked will make them feel welcomed and enthusiastic about their new school and the new language, and thus more engaged in the learning process.
