On TOP of Getting New LapTOPS!

My students need three HP Chromebooks to help them write their writing assignments. Students would rather type than write, and I feel learning how to use technology is an important skill for their future.

My Students

Our school goes from Pre-K all the way to 8th grade. At such a large school, funding sometimes is hard to find for each and every classroom. We are a tight knit, school community with many dedicated teachers and staff members who put their hearts and souls into our school. Our students are from all different ethnic groups as well as socioeconomic backgrounds. In my classroom, we are a 4th grade ICT class. My students are unique with amazing personalities, and strive to do their personal best despite the varying disabilities they may have. Despite the many challenges my students face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students the foundation they need to succeed in the future.

My Project

Having technology in my classroom will open up opportunities that many of my students will only have at school. Many of my students struggle to read and write, and computers are a great way to motivate them. There are so many programs and websites that enhance a special needs child's learning experience in those specific areas. Many of my students are easily frustrated when they are asked to write, and having the ability to type will help them have more than one option in my classroom.

These Chromebooks will open up a whole new world for my students, where they can use the technology for entertainment, research, math, writing, and reading practice.

Chromebooks will allow my students to explore new things and learn how to use technology on an everyday basis. Many of my students only have access to a computer in school and to add that in the classroom on an everyday basis would give them another resource in the classroom.

We often use the laptops for reading games to help struggling readers learn new material in a variety of ways. Using the laptops, my students will also be able to use different applications for math to learn a new skill. Growing up in a society that lends itself to technology allows the students to be exposed to things all over the world. My students will be able to research new topics for their writing assignments as well as complete writing assignments in a timely manner and without being hindered to actually write.

The use of technology will make my students want to complete their work because they know they have the chance of doing it on a computer.
