Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at our school are eager learners looking to find a safe and secure place to learn. Many of our students are from immigrant families from Cuba, Puerto Rico, Honduras, and other countries that are faced with many challenges. Our school provides a home for a diverse and cultural community. Our school is a Title I school in which our students come from very low-income families at many times below the poverty line.

Our school was heavily affected by the hurricanes that recently passed by.

Many rooms were left with water intrusion and damage that has made getting back to normal life difficult. Any funds or availability of items is​ now being used to make repairs to the damage caused by Hurricane Irma.

I work in a Title I school where over 90% of our students are on free or reduced-price lunch. Our school is located in the heart of one of the lowest socioeconomic neighborhoods where many parents do not even speak English.

Our students are in need of feeling secure and safe in their learning environment. Our students need to know that there are people willing to help to make a difference in their lives.

My Project

My students need a mobile workstation to place their laptops on in order to be able to have new student station. This will allow them to move freely around the room to continue their learning. They also need a wireless keyboard and mice in order to be able to use the Promethean from anywhere in the room. At this time, the computer for the Promethean is in one location making it difficult to have access to it throughout the classroom.

With a mobile workstation, wireless keyboard and mice my students can take their learning on the go!

We have WIFI throughout the school and this will help them to continue their learning throughout the school. This will also help our students to work together to build and promote diversity because they can move around the room to work with other students. These items together will create the perfect workstation​ for learning to continue. This will truly help my students to achieve.
