My Students

My target students are in the seventh and eighth grades at a Title One school in the Delta, with a very high population of students who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. They are incredibly bright and eager to learn. They love working on inquiry-driven projects that require them to work together and apply twenty-first century skills.

This project will allow students from varied economic backgrounds to work collaboratively with their teachers to prepare them for the workforce they will enter.

My Project

Economic basics and financial education skills are critical to a successful future.

Learning does not have to be boring and financial literacy does not have to be a mystery.

These financial literacy kits include several resources including games and other hands-on resources that will allow students to have hands-on practice learning about some basic economic concepts like: human capital, saving, spending, opportunity cost, natural resources, resource management and banking; just to mention a few. The tablet and headphone will allow them to access online resources like EverFi and Money Island, which will help enhance their understanding of these economic concepts.

Students are never to young to begin the road down a solid financial future, and these resources are a part of that journey.
