My Project

Organization is a foundation for success in any subject, but especially in mathematics. Ever since returning to school from online learning during their pandemic years, my students have shown great enthusiasm for the tangible, school supplies being a prime example. As many of my students come from low-income families, I want to ensure that they have the materials they need to participate in the joys of learning mathematics, without being burdened with buying these materials themselves.

Notebooks, pens, pencils, and erasers are essential materials that will allow my students to take clear notes directly in their notebooks, while glue sticks will be utilized when handouts are pasted in the notebooks.

Notebooks will allow students to keep all of their handouts and notes in one place, which will serve as a useful reference and study tool before exams. Different colored pens are useful as students annotate their notes or correct their homework and classwork; red pen, for example, stands out to alert students of their previous mistakes. Each of the materials I have selected will be utilized by students daily, contributing to their mathematics organization which often lends itself to greater confidence as well.

As a first year teacher who is excited to teach her students many mathematical concepts and to see them achieve their highest potential, your donation will make a huge difference. Learning mathematics has often been likened to learning a second language, and with learning new vocabulary, formulas, and foundational skills, students will be so grateful to have all the materials needed to confidently build their math identities and become math scholars.
