Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach Spanish 1 and 2 at a title 1 school in the Los Angeles area. Teaching culture is one of the state standards and it is also one of my students favorite standards. My students enjoy learning about the traditions and culture of the target language because I do hands on activities where students get to do their own objects and they get to keep them. For this project, I am asking for materials to do Ojos de Dios (Gods eyes) a Huichol folk art from Mexico. For this project we need different color yarn as well as dowel rods. I am sure my students will really apreciate doing their own Ojo de dios after learning about its origin.
