Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"You have brains in your head and feet in your shoes, you can steer yourself in any direction you choose!" ~Dr. Seuss My hope is that my classroom is a safe space that embraces creativity and fuels the desire to continue learning.

The majority of my students come from low income, immigrant families, and they are the first to attend an American school.

Being kindergarteners, they have lots of questions about the world and are very eager to learn. My school is a Title I school. Resources are very limited, especially for bilingual classrooms like mine.

My Project

One of the main focuses for kindergarteners is to learn how to read and write. Because they are learning how to read, the Spanish Emergent Readers books will be an asset to the classroom. I envision the alphabet letters to be useful for the students to use as hands on materials in practicing creating and writing vocabulary words. The tablets will be useful in incorporating technology into the classroom.

Being a first year teacher, my classroom lacks certain resources that would benefit my students.

I believe that this donation will support my students in this crucial year of language development. I am confident that these resources will excite my students and encourage them to develop a love for reading.
