This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Most of my children come from a single-family, low-income homes. Although I have several children who have some challenging behavior, they are creative, motivated and eager to learn. My class is made up of a diverse group of children all who have great potential to succeed. I try hard to incorporate a variety of different teaching strategies to help ensure that every child's needs are being met. These strategies helps me as well as the students to ensure that they are prepared for kindergarten.
My Project
The way these materials such as a shopping cart, a scale and doctors kit, will make a difference in my students' learning is they will provide them with the skills and knowledge to be school ready for the next chapter in their young lives. These materials will help build on the skills they will need to be successful in kindergarten. These materials will also help them build new vocabulary and math skills. These materials will help me to create lesson that will help build on my students' ability to recognize letters, numbers, letter sounds, sorting, patterning and so much more. They will have the skills to help with problem-solving and addition and subtraction. The literacy material will help expand their word knowledge and comprehension. These materials such as the sand and water materials, will help with their fine motor and sensory skills.
