Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are the most vivacious, creative, responsible, energetic, and eager to learn five years old I have ever seen.

My little dreamers want to be the marine biologists, fire fighters, teachers, and police officers of the future.

They are always complemented by everybody in the building due to their politeness and excellent behavior. They are the reason why I love coming to work every day.

Our school is located in a poor neighborhood that is very and richly diverse.

My Project

My classroom library is as old as the years I've been teaching. If the books are not appealing to me they will be less appealing to my students.

I need exciting, full of adventures and knowledge books that will be appealing to my students and boost their love for reading.

My students need to read every day to improve their reading skills. Books such as the Kindergarten Classic Grade Level Library, Curious George, and Where the Wild Things Are, will motivate them to do that because they will be new and interesting. The library and listening center will be where they will like to be due to the captivating books that will be available to them because of your generosity.

One area where my ELLs and students with disabilities struggle the most with is listening and speaking. Being born in another country I know first hand how nerve racking it is to try to overcome learning a new language and having the confidence to speak to native peers. Having audio books will help me set up a listening station. At this station, students will be able to listen to stories or practice listening to audio conversations to boost their listening and speaking confidence.

Having these materials will help me help my students be successful readers and instill in them the love for books.
