This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every student deserves the opportunity to be transported to another time and place through literature!

I teach a diverse and enthusiastic group of 8th graders.

They are eager to learn about literature and enjoy reading various genres of books. With the advances in technology, they are more likely to turn on the television than open a book. This year we have read novels that they truly enjoyed and were motivated to read.

My Project

Dramas show students a different type of literature that they can become actively involved in. My students need a class set of the classic drama, A Raisin in the Sun. "A Raisin in the Sun" highlights the struggles that a family was faced with during the 1950's. This play is eye opening and deals with struggles that many of my students can relate to. The characters are easy to understand and students are able to put themselves in the shoes of the characters.

This project is important to me because I believe that all students should have an opportunity to read various works from literature.

This was one of the first books I ever taught and it continues to be a personal favorite and a favorite of students as well.
