They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. They work hard, try their best and they always help one another. Truly, they are my inspiration!
My scholars would use these resources during recess to engage in social activities.
Making bracelets and playing sports can both be powerful tools for promoting Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) by fostering key SEL competencies such as self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. While making the bracelets, individuals often engage in self-reflection, which can help build self-awareness. Deciding on colors, designs, and patterns can reflect personal preferences, values, and emotional states. It provides an opportunity for individuals to express their personality or current feelings in a creative, non-verbal way. Also, making bracelets in a collaborative or group environment promotes teamwork and communication. Sharing ideas, helping others with their designs, or trading materials fosters cooperation, active listening, and support, all of which are essential elements of strong interpersonal relationships.
Sports often require players to control their emotions, especially when faced with challenges such as losing or making a mistake. They can use the footballs when practicing emotional regulation, athletes learn to stay calm under pressure, focus on improvement, and handle setbacks with resilience. Sports also require players to make quick decisions, such as when to pass the ball, take a shot, or support a teammate. These decisions require critical thinking, accountability, and consideration of how actions affect the team. Sports also teach participants to be accountable for their behavior, such as following rules and accepting the outcome of the game, whether it’s a win or a loss.
