Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a title I inner-city high school that serves a very diverse population of roughly 2300 students. Our population includes a large ESL community.

Our school offers a Yearbook class which helps students to develop many valuable and transferable skills in areas such as writing and journalism, photography and editing, basic graphic design techniques, communication, speaking, advertising and social media skills.

Yearbook opens up doors and creates an exciting outlet for many of our innovative and artistic students.

My Project

Unfortunately, we currently have only 1 camera to work with. As you can imagine, this makes serving our entire population quite difficult.

Our school is large and there are multiple spirit events, sports events and educational activities that take place each day.

Often, due to the lack of photography equipment, we are forced to choose which activity to photograph, leaving many disappointed.

Please help fund a second camera as well as camera accessories to help us serve our population and to empower students to be creative and pursue their passions. A second camera will allow more students to participate in photojournalism activities.
