My Students

"Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember." I want every single one of my students to be successful in life. I have extremely high expectations which I expect them to meet each and everyday. A typical day in my classroom is fun and exciting! My students look forward to coming to my class!

I teach in an extremely high-poverty school; the majority of our students are on free or reduced lunch.

My students have a desire to learn, but their ability to read is holding them back. Many of my students are 3-4 grades below grade level; some more than that.

My Project

My students need Portable Boom Boxes/CD Players, Headphone Splitters, and Books on CD as well as the hard copies to create a listening center. My students will be using these listening centers on a daily basis. My students are required to read or listen to books independently for a minimum of 20 minutes in class. With these materials, my students will be able to follow along while listening to some of their favorite books.

The CD players, audio books, and hard copies, will allow my students to read grade-appropriate books without the frustration of not being able to read every word.
