Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our inner-city children often suffer because there is a lack of communication between caregivers and schools. Families will be able to use the refrigerator, microwave and coffeemaker as I aim to create a safe, and welcoming environment where meetings can be held, snacks are shared, and the overall wellbeing of our students is discussed is a way to foster positive and meaningful relationships, creating a healthy home-school connection. When students and families feel supported, success rates rise. I believe in being a champion for children (Rita Pearson). These tools will help students achieve, because if families deem schools important, students will too! Students will also be invited to join meetings, as their voice needs to and ought to be heard. My goal is to support both students and families in a safe and comfortable space with items such as a mini-fridge, rugs, flexible seating, and warm beverages.

My students are so special because despite being raised in poverty, I will show them that as long as someone doesn’t give up on them, they can achieve anything.

The children are our future. We must foster a love of learning in a proactive environment. I believe that when students see their families, be it biological parents, foster parents, grandparents or any other blend of families, they believe they are important. I vow to positively impact the community by being welcoming to all.
