My Students

Many of my students are English language learners. They come to school every day and try to excel in an environment where they are struggling to learn a new language and make new friends. They come ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. They truly are an inspiration!

The​ main goal in our classroom is to build relationships and find shared experiences.

Often times students who do not speak the language find other ways to communicate, like drawing pictures or creating projects. I love watching them make connections and foster friendships throughout the year.

I am so lucky and thankful to have such a diverse and excited group of students to grow through the school year.

My Project

Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component to motivating their learning. If I can offer them choices on where to sit within the room during a Writing Workshop, they will be more engaged, excited and ready to work.

My students are more engaged and ready to work when they are provided choices on where they may sit.

The products I have chosen are lightweight enough for them to carry to anywhere in the room they wish to go. The desks are the perfect height for them to place in front of them while they write. They can independently set themselves up to write and space they will have created will be their own. They will be more engaged in their work and less likely to be disrupted by their peers.

I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more!
