Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Starting a new school year can be uneasy for some, but having the right tools can really help you get to a successful start! Our class needs help getting supplies to help jump start our reader's workshop.

My first grade scholars will be part of an ICT, or Integrated Co-Teaching, class, which is part of the NYC public school system.

They live in a high poverty, multicultural community, and the majority of them live in shelters and come from low income families. Our class consist of two teachers - one gen. ed. teacher and one special ed. teacher, and 30 young scholars.

My Project

I have requested resources to help prepare for independent and partnership reading among my new scholars. Among some of the requested resources are a set of book baggies for books they can borrow to read at home, timers to help increase reading stamina, hooks and book rings will help hold students' sight word sets and table caddies to help hold needed supplies.

Resources for learning are very limited both at home, and in most cases, at school too.

Your generous donation will help my students get a start on a successful year by helping them get some of the necessary materials that will help encourage independence and growth in reading.
