My Project

Ever notice how you end up needing random odds and ends for the beginning of the school year? We need some pretty basic stuff to make this year run smoother. Our student population is over 70% economically disadvantaged, and their ability to buy supplies for themselves is minimal at times. Our staff often buy extra supplies to have on hand for students so that learning can continue and a lack of materials for class isn't an issue. I end up spending a lot of money every year on supplies for students. I realized that there were some simple things that might make class flow easier, and they wouldn't cost that much.

Having a few well-managed odds and ends might make this year run smoother than ever.

Other teachers have talked about how presentation clickers helped keep their classes moving without them having to stand at their desks and allowed them to keep a better eye on their class. Count me in! I noticed that some of my students don't deal well with technology at all, so I make examples out of notecards, however from the back of the room they are hard to see. Problem solved: I'm asking for large notecards. We have lamps that often get unplugged or we climb on other furniture to plug them in because of a lack of outlets and the placement. Remotes to turn them on and an extension cord seem easy! Finally, having a designated place for cell phones might cut down on distractions in class. I'm hoping that these ideas help us have a great year.
