Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I want to support my students and remove any barriers that may cause them to miss school. The key to academic success starts with attendance. When students are in class, they benefit from instruction. We know that missed instructional time is one of the key predictors of not meeting academic expectations at all grades.

Providing them with incentives such as gift cards to get to school based on their attendance goals and academic achievements is important to me and will allow them to improve their social, emotional, behavioral, and academic outcomes for my students.

These support of gift cards will allow us to connect with them beyond the classroom.

The gift card incentives will increase students' attendance and reduce the number of chronically absent students.

Overall, these gift cards will be used to support our school-wide goal and send the message of Every School Day Counts!

The effective educator speaks the language of their students and knows their needs beyond the classroom. We cannot let this time pass without doing everything that is possible to ensure that we are being creative and thinking outside of the box to remove every barrier that affects students' attendance.
