My Project

My oceanography students are using the Great Pacific Garbage Patch phenomenon to learn about ocean movements and the nature, history, and sustainability of plastics.

They created the following driving questions for their research:

1) Why do we use plastic? How does it end up in our oceans?

2) How do currents create ocean garbage patches?

3) How does plastic in the oceans affect life on Earth?

4) How do we convince people to care about the problem?

5) What will it take to address the problem?
