Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"With changes and creativity, we can all succeed." During therapy, we work on improving skills such as using both hands to write and to unzip their coats so that they can learn alongside their peers. We want my students to be learning side by side with their peers by the end of the school year.

My school has students in general education, integrative classrooms, and self contained classrooms.

Students I provide therapy for have difficulty learning in a traditional manner and require additional supports in and out of the classrooms to function. Students in my school are eager to learn and participate however lack of supplies often make it difficult to bring a variety of learning tools to therapy.

My Project

Students will use equipment like the Therapy Fitness Ball and Super Magnet Lab in both in therapy and in the classroom to work on various skills and routines. We will use the Plastic Pattern Blocks and Theraputty to practice and then generalize skills learned into the classroom. They will learn to use their fingers to open zippers, milk cartons and cut paper using scissors.

This project will improve students ability to learn skills, routines and reach their Individualized Education Plan goals.

We will work in small groups and individually, using fun and games to attain skills necessary to function within the school environment.
