Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students see life through a very different lens than what I might remember when I was in the classroom. Yet, I've grown to see how special their understanding of what occurs near them is. Almost all my students are kinesthetic and visual learners. Because of this, they require visuals and manipulative to enhance their learning and support their creativity.

The resources in this project will aim to foster my students learning by providing the tools to promote active engagement, while making learning fun.

My students have different methods they can engage in a text or problem-solving question. With these resources, my goal is to adapt our curriculum and bring outside tools to use during our lessons. This could be seen during phonics instruction, shared reading, math, social emotional and more. All the resources aim to target one of the above categories that they see day to day in our classroom.

My students will benefit from a timer and white-board attached to promote first/then boards with timers. I have students who can sit during a lesson but often are working for a preferred item. A visual timer allows for my student to see how much time they have left before they receive their preferred item. Overall, timers are often used in my classroom for small-groups, independent work, calm down corner, choice time and more.
