Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I have the amazing opportunity to teach a robotics elective course at Alexander Hamilton Middle School. This class is fantastic because it is everything many of our students need to get excited about learning. It is hands on, challenge-driven, technology-heavy, and fun. Currently in class we are using the Lego RCX robotics kits for many of our challenges, and the RCX has a sad story to tell. The RCX is being discontinued and Lego will no longer support this product in two years. Well we have 35 of these robots for 180 students to use in 6 classes of robotics and now they all need to be replaced with the new Lego NXT robot kit. I am on a mission to have all these robots replaced before Lego stops supporting them. I have one on it's way thanks to the support of our school PTO and their teacher grant program. So that is one down and 34 robots to go. I am going to take small steps in fulfilling this goal and on this step I am requesting two robots.
