Nurturing NY Students!

My students need food and snacks such as a healthy Kellogg's cereal throughout the day, before or after Physical Education. Sometimes, this is the only time they will eat. Many are undernourished and poor.

My Students

As a Health/Phys Ed teacher, I see how poverty affects my students. I see how they cannot come in properly dressed because of the low income household that they live in. I see open toed sneakers and tank tops in 30 degree weather. This is what our entire school population consists of. These students would never ask for help, however they deserve to be nurtured and and feel comfortable while playing in the gym.

It would be so wonderful to have additional clothing on hand or an extra pair of sneakers, an extra snack when they feel hungry, or a bottle of cold water when they feel thirsty.

During our Health classes we encourage as much bottled water as possible as our fountains contain lead. With all of this in mind, I thank you in advance from the bottom of my heart on this #bestschoolday event!

My Project

My students receive Physical Education once a week. That is not enough to maintain their well being, so during that time, I always make sure that they are well nourished, fed and come with enough energy to play . These Kellogg's cereals and other snacks will allow this to make it much easier and alleviate the expense out of my own pocket.

These students' appreciate it and it makes a difference in their physical activity!

They consistently ask for food on a daily basis. Some are are as young as 5 years old. Funding this project would help support my Health/ Phys Ed program as well as helping those students maintain physical health.
