Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My students? How can I describe them? Let's see...they are respectful and very mindful of each other. If a student needs help, they are eager to be the one to make things better. They are kids. They play and work with each other in and out of the classroom.
Each morning the students are welcomed with a smile and a (virtual) handshake.
They are learning to self-monitor and build their self-confidence. Building academic self-confidence is the goal of our classroom, within a low-income district with free meal service for breakfast and snacks for all students. Students are encouraged to search out their answers to their questions and reflect on what they have learned.
My Project
I am requesting dry erase boards. The tabletop whiteboards are going to be used to help identify table members and roles students are to complete.
I have over 700 students that go through my classroom in one week and believe me trying to learn all of their names is no easy feat!
Also, having the students take notes of what they are going to do during the class period can be taken on the tabletop whiteboard, an easy way for them to hold themselves responsible.
Imagine seeing immediate responses from each student just by holding up a whiteboard! That is what is going to happen when we use the individual whiteboards and erasers. For example answering questions during a story or for planning their next design and just hold the board up from across the room with a quick answer or check-in while helping another student individually which will require more time.
Dry erase boards are an invaluable tool that we use frequently. Being able to give immediate feedback will help these students academically achieve.
