I teach amazing teenagers who are in 11th and 12th grade. These students are energetic, funny and insightful. My students come from a range of backgrounds but are able to come together to make learning fun.
Our students have struggled to be engaged and enthusiastic about learning since going to remote and hybrid learning during COVID.
These students need something to re-inspire their love of learning and especially of reading!
My Project
Students' enthusiasm for school and learning has waned since we shutdown in March of 2020. Attendance, motivation and grades have all decreased in my class and classes across our school.
In order to re-engage students in learning and spark their love for literature and reading I am offering a new class next year: Literature and Film.
Students will have the opportunity to read a variety of books and stories and then study and analyze their film adaptations. Students will determine what makes a good adaptation and practice adapting a story of their own. The hope is that by giving students choice in English classes and mixing mediums (print and film) that students will learn better and be more motivated to succeed.
