Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I spend every day with the most amazing students. Many of my students are going to be the first in their family to attend college and are currently working hard to earn college credit in my AP Literature class.

These students are incredible and driven to be successful, but they just need to tools to enhance their learning!

Almost 70% of the students receive free lunch, but that does not define who they are academically. Financial hardship outside of the classroom should not impact their ability to succeed in class. They know that they are intelligent students and I want to give them the books that they deserve.

My Project

In order to be successful on the AP exam in May students need to be exposed to a variety of novels, plays, and poetry. Within the last year the class size for this course has increased nearly 30% at the school. Unfortunately, this means there are not enough novels for each student. The students need to be able to read in class and at home to have a successful interaction with the literature. These books will be able to provide the students with a second and third quarter full of meaningful discussion and writing!

These novels are critical to provide these advanced placement students with the reading skills to succeed on the AP test.

They will assist this group of students and continue to be useful for each year of students that can read them.
