My Project

The two novels I have selected for my 5th graders this year are both amazing stories that teach us how we are more than just a label and our disabilities and struggles can make us both unique and strong individuals. These messages are important and resonate with students at the tender age of 10 and 11. By each student having their own copy from our novel study they are able to dive deeper into each story and answer questions that will strengthen their understanding of the story. My goal is to foster a love of reading as well as the ability for students to go back and find textual evidence that supports their claims while reading independently. This group of students hold a special place in my heart because of how they faced challenges during the pandemic while in Kindergarten and First Grade. I hope to bridge the gaps that occurred during that time and foster a deep love of reading.
