This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Third grade is a pivotal year for reading. Students have been learning to read from Kindergarten to 2nd grade. Now, they are expected to read in order to learn, which is a challenge for many students. Students are used to reading picture books, but now it's time to transition to reading mostly chapter books.

To help students begin reading chapter books, I have selected many high-interest, low-level novel sets for students to read together in literature groups.

Each of these fantastic novels is the first book in a series. Once students read the first book, they will be hooked and excited to read the rest of the series, which I have in my classroom library. These novel sets will motivate students to read chapter books, foster a love of reading, and enhance student achievement.
