This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Our school works hard to ensure that students enter its doors with welcoming arms, and leave with knowledge of their strengths, worth, and potential. One of the most valuable things about my classroom is its diversity of learners. I serve students from a variety of backgrounds and cultures.
My Project
Of course so much goes into an effective learning environment including materials and supplies and educator expertise. In my years of teaching and working with students ages 4-15, there is one thing that always rings true: a welcoming space leads to the best outcomes.
Have you ever tried to focus on your studies or your job while hungry?
As a teacher, I want to provide the most welcoming and positive experience for my students. The reality of teaching in a Title I school is that sometimes our students have basic needs that need to be met before learning can begin. During the last school year, I implemented a policy that if you are hungry and can't focus, all you need do is ask for a snack. This system required a great deal of trust and understanding on both sides, and it did wonders in our classroom community. Unfortunately, it can get very expensive very quickly when going it alone.
With your help, I can keep a supply of substantial snacks in my classroom that are healthier than the cheap chips and candy that provide a quick jolt of energy... but result in a crash later in the day. I thank you in advance for your support!
