My Project

At our school, where 100 percent of the student body relies on free school lunches, the issue of hunger extends well beyond the classroom. When students arrive at school on an empty stomach, their ability to concentrate, engage, and learn is severely compromised. Hunger negatively affects cognitive functions, including memory and problem-solving skills, making it difficult for students to reach their full potential academically.

The achievement gap in education has been a long-standing concern, and it disproportionately affects marginalized communities.

The impact of hunger is exacerbated. Providing snacks can help level the playing field.

When my students have access to nutritious snacks throughout the day, they are better equipped to focus on their studies, bridging the achievement gap and enhancing their educational outcomes.

Nutrition is a fundamental aspect of overall health and well-being. Unfortunately, in economically disadvantaged communities, access to nutritious food can be limited. By providing snacks to these middle school students, we not only contribute to their academic success but also invest in their long-term health. Nutritious snacks can help these students maintain energy levels, boost their immune systems, and reduce the risk of chronic health issues associated with poor diet.
