This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a speech-language teacher providing services to pre-k students with impairments to their receptive and expressive language skills. Pre-kindergarten is such an exciting group of inquisitive students who are learning various skills through structured play, songs, story-time and hands-on activities.

I love the fact that my tenacious yet witty pre-schoolers keep on my toes.

This is a crucial period in which my little ones are learning to develop basic life skills, early literacy skills, appropriate pragmatic language, auditory comprehension and so much more.

My Project

Most of the time, my students are often hungry and are constantly asking me for something to eat. It has been my experience that whenever my students are hungry, they are unable to optimally perform. With a variety of snack options such as the garden veggie chips, crackers and granola bars, my students will be able to select a snack of their choice. My students will not only enjoy their snacks but the snacks will also keep them mentally alert.

Having healthy snacks are not only essential to a child's growing body but also fuels their minds.

According to research, "children should have a nutritious midmorning and midafternoon snack at school to meet the nutrient demands of their growing bodies and brains."
