Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Having something to eat during snack time undoubtedly provides students with extra nourishment for success in the classroom. Many students I work with come from families that struggle to send their children with nutritious foods for lunch, let alone a snack to enjoy. Obviously, this can impact any child who is unable to bring a snack to eat, but also impacts teachers like myself who work hard to provide snacks for students who cannot bring any. For this school year, students have breakfast at 8:00 am, and lunch at 1:00 pm. Snack time at 11:30 am gives the necessary pick-me-up for everyone, ensuring higher focus, and an equitable social experience for all students.

Benefits of eating healthy snacks include:

- a boost of energy when several hours pass after breakfast.

- extra nutrients when choosing certain snacks like fresh fruit or nuts.

- adequate nutrition if one has a poor appetite but cannot eat full meals, such as due to an illness.

Your donation will allow for 50+ students to have something tasty and healthy to eat for snack for the first quarter of the 2022-2023 school year.
