Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a curious energetic bunch! They come into school excited and ready to learn!

Our 3K and Pre-K children are in great need for a space for free play; a place where they can safely move around and learn through play!

Our school's playground is soon going to be under construction. Children need a place outside of their classrooms that is dedicated to play that will help the development of fine and gross motor skills. We want to give them a place where they can use their imagination, become problem solvers and learn cause and effect all through play. We have the space but we don't have the play equipment. We would love to provide educational toys and sensory equipment that can provide the opportunity to learn these skills.

These amazing 3 year olds and 4 olds are curious thinkers that use their imagination to discover and learn new things about the world around them. When I look at them I see future scientists, engineers, chefs… the skies the limit. I want to give them a great year where they can have fun learning through play in a safe and inviting environment.

My Project

These items will help my youngest students have a chance to appropriately develop their fine motor and gross motor skills. Currently, our school playground is in need of repair and will be under construction. Meanwhile, our students need an open space, a playroom, where they can use their imaginations and be creative. Furthermore, they can move freely and learn through play! Our three year olds and four year olds are at the point where they develop positive relationships by interacting with one other during play time. There are many benefits to creating a space for our three and four year olds to play safely on a daily basis.

My principal, a team of teachers, volunteers and I want to make a playroom that is safe, inspiring, inviting and fun!

Children benefit from opportunities to make new discoveries through play. The room will be transformed into a place where our children can use their imaginations by pretending to work at a farmers market, working a train system in a city, or building skyscrapers out of foam blocks.

Our goal is to also create a space where our children can use their fine motor skills by building with foam blocks with a friend. We will also have a space for them to bounce, hop and climb to develop their gross motor skills. Moreover, sensory play is an important part of early childhood development. Children learn best through using their senses to understand and explore the world around them. By creating this space we are helping to develop language, cognitive and social growth as well. Help me to produce a beautiful safe space for our children.
