Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a college preparatory educational program emphasizing science, technology, engineering, art/athletics and math (STEAM) in a safe environment that cultivates respect for self and others. The students in our school strive to be leaders and innovators.

Our students are scientific thinkers who contribute to the global community as socially responsible and educated members of society.

They come from a variety of backgrounds, but share a common goal of making a difference in our world. They are talented, passionate, creative, smart, and most of all, leaders.

My Project

Interactive notebooks have students create a resource to use as they continue to extend their learning. An interactive notebook works as a textbook for students that is self-designed. By using these notebooks in the classroom, it allows every lesson to take advantage of different learning styles. Students feel more empowered and in charge of what they are learning. The creativity allows students to be able to show me what they interpret from my lesson. This also allows me to fill in any gaps students may have in each lesson by a quick review of their notes. They are a good balance between processing input and output.

The colored paper helps certain concepts stick out as soon as students open their notebooks.

Colored pencils, markers, and highlighters allow their ideas to come to life through doodles and mnemonics that help students connect with the content they are learning. Double sided tape and glue sticks are a must have to ensure that we don't loose any of our important pages. Because many of the foldables have doors or windows, a class set of scissors is vital to implementing this project in the classroom.

All the tools listed in this project will allow my next generation problem solver to build a solid foundation to be world changing innovators!
