Note-Taking Basics

Help me give my students basic note-taking supplies including highlighters, gel pens, tape, and storage bags to create interactive notebooks.

My Project

When you were in school, did you enjoy taking notes? I recall our teacher writing on the chalkboard and the students copying everything down will a dull gray number two pencil. It was a little dry and lackluster. We are trying to change all that in our classroom!

In our middle-school English Language Arts classroom, students are creating interactive notebooks.

I would love to help them add color and pizazz to their notes with the addition of erasable highlighters. Let's face it, we all make mistakes. Having the ability to correct errors will ensure students are being strategic while highlighting text and their notes.

In addition, the gel pens will give students another opportunity to organize their notes with color. Perhaps key vocabulary words will be written in bright green, while definitions are penned in blue. By using color, it will help students make connections and improve retention of information.

The Washi tape will help add a little novelty and whimsy to their work, while the mesh bags will help organize all of these resources into note-taking kits the students can use while working.

As you can see, these basic note-taking materials will help add color and interest to my students' work. Thank you for your kind consideration.
