My students are 6th, 7th, and 8th grade computer/technology and video production learners. They are highly motivated to learn and keep up with the new technology, coding, hardware, electronics, and robotics. They are a diverse group of cultures, genders, learning styles, and motivations for learning. This elective class set supports the ISTE, CTE and CCSS standards for learning in middle school. My students are hands-on learners. They want to learn about electronics, computers, technology, and anything that they can make do what they want it to do.
My Project
How many times have you ever been able to wear your classwork? This project will allow students to have access to a durable Baby Lock embroidery machine that they write the code for the design, run the machine that stitches it, and then they get to put it on their jacket, shirt, backpack, blanket, apron, or lab coat. The possibilities are endless.
Code your craft and craft your code.
This project will teach students how to code movement, the fundamentals of sewing, geometry, spacial reasoning and that code is not just trapped on a computer. Coding paths is not just for robots anymore. Let them Stitch it!
