My Students

This is my eighth year teaching in New York. I am a Special Education teacher in a third-grade classroom.

My students are creative, clever, spontaneous, and are just AWESOME little humans.

As a teacher in a Title I school, my students are faced with various situations both in and out of the classroom.

I made it a priority as I started my career as a teacher that even though I may not be able to control their home lives, I know I can certainly control their experiences during the school day in a creative and positive way.

My Project

My students absolutely love anything interactive colorful. I use laminating sheets for practically everything including mini anchor charts that students refer to all year like vocabulary, sight words, and even our daily schedule. I use the cardstock to help display their work on something durable or toolkits to help support them in their learning. The problem is, we run out of them quickly! We label our interactive notebooks and dry erase markers and whiteboards to help them solve math problems. Rather than using scotch tape to add anchor charts to the wall, I use velcro or command hooks.

I will utilize the microphone this year to have students participate in small group discussions and to share their proud work during our writing celebrations.
