My Project

The battle for books is always raging in the age of technology. I find that the only way to interest many of my young readers is by providing high-interest graphic novels. Graphic novels feel like a good way to straddle the "little kid" picture books they want to move away from and the chapter books they find to be boring-looking or intimidating.

Graphic novels are exciting and they reach a large group of my students.

It isn't uncommon to see them talking about their favorite new graphic novel or checking the library for volume 2 or 3 of a new series they discovered. Graphic novels are always the first checked out of our small library. Having a collection to keep in our classroom will guarantee that my students have access to books when we need them.
