Normalizing Super High Energy Students

My Students

There is something special about the students in my school and in my classroom. These students are independent, protective, and eager. Students who I spend time with day in and day out come from very low income families and from very diverse backgrounds. These students need the support and rapport from the individuals who interact with them daily within the school community. Based on the high needs of these students, each school day can be challenging but rewarding.

Each student in my classroom is very eager to learn and to grow, however, with the challenges they face outside of the classroom they need extra support within the classroom.

Within our school we serve and support various students that are high-energy. With these students being gifted in this area these students are more likely to cause distraction to other students in the classroom and hinder their own learning. These students have a harder time focusing and have a tendency to be very active in the classroom. As a result of having trouble focusing like the other students in the classroom students begin to feel frustrated and like they do not belong.

My Project

By receiving these materials students will be able to be given the chance to feel like all other students. Often students that are super high energy begin to easily get frustrated with themselves and discouraged because they just want to be "normal". They want to be able to focus like the other students. We can allow students that are gifted and super high energy the opportunity to feel like they belong and to help them feel more comfortable in the areas where they may not be like the other students especially when it comes to focusing. By giving these students these materials selected the students will be able to express their high energy in a positive way.

By allowing these students to have a way to handle their high energy we are giving them a opportunity to succeed.

I want to be able to give the abundance of high energy students that I serve on a daily basis the access to tools that they need in order to be successful. There is something so special about these students and no student should feel like they do not belong simply because they are different, and sadly these students do just want be able to coexist in a classroom like all the other students. I want to be able to give my students the opportunity to embrace their gifts and make them feel comfortable in our classroom environment. I know that with these materials we can do just that. Our students come from a variety of backgrounds and sometimes the last thing they want to do is be still, often times causing distractions to other students. These materials will help all students that are super high energy to release that energy in a more calming and controlled manner during class time.
