My Students

The students in my 7th grade ELA classroom are bright and eager to learn. They love to read and write. We engage in reading and writing workshop, and that means students are constantly reading new books and writing their own essays.

My Project

This project will provide my students with an array of non fiction mentor texts for our non fiction writing workshop. Students will be writing informational essays about history, and these books with serve as mentors for all the features that informational writing includes: headings, graphics, organizational structure, table of contents, index, glossary, etc. Students will read and analyze these texts for their elements and make choices for their own writing, as well as set goals for drafting, revising, editing, and publishing. I also added some bright and colorful publishing paper for students to create their own info books with.
