Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a teacher in a Title I school servicing 3K through Fifth Grade students in the Bronx. I am currently a first grade general education teacher working in an ICT (Integrated Co-Teaching) classroom. We have 20 students (general education students and special education students). This is the first time some of my students have attended in person learning in a school building due to Covid.

What makes my students special?

My students love school and they are eager to learn every day! They love participating in lessons, sharing ideas, and working with partners! They are diverse, curious, and energetic learners! Our students are kind and considerate children who enjoy engaging in hands-on activities, technology, and singing.

My Project

Did you know nonfiction books motivate readers? Our students love learning, especially about the world around them! With access to nonfiction books, our students' reading comprehension will improve, their vocabulary will expand, and they will gain new knowledge!

First graders are bursting with curiosity and the desire to learn!

These nonfiction books will engage our readers. Multiple copies of books have been requested in order for students to read with a partner. In addition, books on the same topic will provide students with an opportunity to learn more about a topic from additional resources.
