My Students
Have you ever been taken away by a book? Help my eighteen students experience our world in ways that they've never seen before!
My students are a great group of third grade students.
We are a Title I school, with most of our students receiving free or reduced price breakfast/lunch. My students LOVE reading and devour anything they can get their hands on, most of them even take their books to lunch, and have been caught trying to read while walking down the hall!
My Project
Research states literacy skills are critical to the academic success of learners. Low SES students are particularly at risk for struggling in comprehension and vocabulary acquisition.
Help me provide my students with the opportunity to develop their comprehension strategies for nonfiction texts. Developing and broadening background knowledge of a range of topics can help to increase engagement and time on text, which will ultimately strengthen comprehension, and will address gaps that may exist.
Thank you for taking the time to consider this project!
I have eighteen anxious students who are hungry for new reading materials. I have no doubt my young readers will devour these books!
