My Students

My students come from a rural area of northern Wisconsin. There has been a recent change in the district and now many of my students are attending a school that they did not attend in years prior. In fact, my school has not had fourth grade in it for many years.

My students love to read nonfiction!

I often will walk around the room during silent reading time, and students will call me over to show me what cool things they are learning about.

My Project

I would like to build up my library with a variety of nonfiction texts. My students love to read nonfiction books! They love to point out the different facts. After reading, they come up to me and start telling me everything they learned!

However, I have only a few nonfiction texts in the classroom.

I want to add a large variety of texts for my students. Some of the books I chose are biographies, some are travel guides, and some are about historical events. I chose historical people who I think my students will find interesting. I don't have many books about people of color so I added some of those in, too.
