Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

At our elementary school, we strive to find leaders in all our students. We are a Title I School with a large population of English Language Learners that focuses on motivating our diverse student population to have a growth mindset. Our students are developing the 6 C's global competencies (creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, citizenship & character)skills needed to excel in life.

My 1st-6th grade students are full of life and energy.

They are eager to take on any challenge that comes their way. I want to be able to give them the tools and develop the skills needed to become lifelong learners and find fitness for life.

My Project

In my classroom, I like to think outside the box and encourage my students to do the same. I think it is vital for my students to learn the basic skills to be physically active for a lifetime but I like to teach it through non-traditional sports. Incorporating non-traditional sports to my students exposes them to an entirely different view of finding fun ways to be active and healthy. The equipment for my project will allow my students to play the game of scooter hockey. Scooter hockey is a non-traditional way to play hockey but on scooters. These scooter hockey sticks will teach them to strike the ball in a fun team sport.
