Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are imaginative and knowledge-hungry. More than three quarters of the students are from low income households. They all have different living conditions. With all that is going on in the world, they look forward to going to school.

My Project

My students enjoy reading fiction series that they can relate to. I want to show them that non-fiction text can also be just as exciting and interesting. They enjoy writing about their favorite fictional characters, but I also want them to feel inspired to write about current events.

By giving my students access to "Time for Kids" they will be entering the world they live in through new eyes.

I have seen how other classrooms have implemented these student magazines, and the students are interested in sharing their perspectives on the readings. I would like my students to have the same opportunity.
