Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In second grade, we teach students strategies for helping them monitor their own focus and stay tuned in to the task at hand. One of those ways is by eliminating other distractions, such as sitting somewhere else in the room, using a privacy folder, or using noise-cancelling headphones. We do not have enough sets of headphones for everyone to use one, so we need to add more to our collection.

Aside from academic work, students find headphones useful for field trips and other events where there are loud noises.

As I teach in an inclusion classroom, many students have sensory processing disorder and are sensitive to noise and volume. Having noise-cancelling headphones for any who need them make these kinds of trips and experiences accessible and safe for all students.
