No Paper You Say !

My project needs 87 notebooks and stationary supplies to help students organize and refer to their notes for reading, math and writing assignments given each month. Students writing projects focus on skills whereby a comprehensive response takes place to texts (literature) of nonfiction, poetry, fictional characters' roles and biographies. My project requires a sufficient amount of paper for all students to participate and develop their critical thinking skills through writing.

I am a fourth grade teacher working with students that are from homes with limited financial options. I spend a great deal of the day helping students to organize their notes. I've concluded this is due to the lack of stationery materials they possess. When I refer for students to look back into their notes for information they are unable to locate it. In a Title I school such as this a large majority of the students are from single parent households and reside in low income communities. About 20% of the students' body are from other countries . The English Language Learners students are devoted to transitioning into the education system rapidly to be competent readers. Yet due to their non-english speaking family members they have limited support. These eager students are in need of basic supplies to study unfamiliar vocabulary words. It is extremely essential to class instruction if every student was provided with stationary supplies necessary for each subject area. Students are required to have a notebook for all areas of study. You can assist in the role of educating these bright future leaders by endorsing this proposal. This will enable them to document and record significant facts, findings that builds future inquiry. Students will use their notebooks to organize their thoughts through the 5 step writing process (brainstorming, draft, revise, editing and publish). After several requests to parents my students are unable to present a sufficient amount of stationery supplies. I am requesting for donations in my crusade to develop students to be critical thinkers. Your generous funding will provide opportunities for students to explore intellectually. As well as gain skills to process academically, and socially.
