Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Middle school is tough- classes are more demanding, high school is looming in the not-so-distant future, friend groups change on a dime, and your body is doing all sorts of growing. Sometimes the difference between just making it through the day and being successful in the classroom is an afternoon snack.

As the only counselor for my 522 student building, my office is the drop-in site for snack requests when the school cafeteria is closed.

I am not able to keep up with the demands of all my hungry students. Your support keeping my lazy-Susan stocked for grab and go snacks will make a difference for students needing a little something to keep away the urge to turn into a Hangry (hungry-angry) monster. Students will be able to stop by my office, grab a snack, and carry on to their class. Providing snacks is also a great, low-stress way to meet with your counselor, share about yourself and do an impromptu check-in with an adult in the building.

Sharing food or sharing a meal transcends language and culture, it is central to who we are as humans.
