Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

It is great to know that there are many ways to help students who do not have the resources to compete with their counterparts who have greater assets.

My students come from families who are economically disadvantaged (almost 100%), the school is Title I, and 79 percent are At Risk, but still, they are hungry for learning.

My idea is that my first graders become fluent readers with high levels of comprehension and be able to master the Math concepts by the end of the school year. I want to give them the tools and confidence that they will need to be ready for the next grade levels and eventually to be ready for college.

My Project

Even with some of my students coming to the classroom, I still have most of my students learning from home. This method of learning has been hard for everyone, as we all try to accommodate this new style of teaching and learning.

We can all agree that no matter the place you're learning, you're deserving of the same quality of lessons.

I want that for my students, and this iPad and Apple Pencil will allow me to do just that. The iPad and Apple Pencil will allow me to quickly and efficiently make my virtual lessons and presentations for both my students at home and in my classroom. This iPad will also serve as an extra device for my students, as many of our lessons are now given through their own devices.

My students use the Pear Deck app on iPads to perform interactives and learn. We've started to use this much more often as it is available for both my students in the class and at home.

We're all trying to make the best out of the situation, and being fair to all of my students is especially important for me. Making sure I pay attention to the students at home is something I can control. Proving the same quality of lessons is something you all can help me with.
