Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My music classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy. I read to them, we create songs to them, and they read independently! These books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. We are in need of books in Spanish to support our dual-language program, as well as books about music.

With these new books, my young music students will be able to hear the books I share in music class in their native language.

My older students will enjoy reading in Spanish and then comparing them to the English version already in our music library.

We are a dual-language campus. Our students learn to read and write in both English and Spanish. Students will be able to choose to read books during center time that support this learning. We also use books during class to focus on singing and creating new songs. My students are avid readers and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
